PALO, Leyte, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Eastern Visayas has put up police assistance centers (PACs) to assist the traveling public through Region 8 for the November 1 and 2 holidays.

PNP-8 Regional Director, Chief Supt. Arnold Revilla said the PACs have already been put up by his field commanders and will increase police visibility throughout Region 8 particularly in areas where people converge most and as an effort to deter untoward incidents or acts of criminality.

Revilla said he has ordered the deployment of police officers in places of convergence to ensure people’s safety and prevent criminal activities or incidents from happening. The PACs are part of the police forces’ implementation of “Oplan Kaluluwa” during All Souls’ and All Saints’ Day celebration in the region.

He said the police assistance centers have been set in each municipality in the region, and that many of these PACs have been put up in terminals, or in public places where many travelers converge on their way home. “We are encouraging travelers to seek assistance from the PACs whenever necessary.”

The regional police director added that putting up of the PACs was also done in coordination with barangay officials, barangay tanods and other concerned groups in the community.
