Job prospects
DAVAO CITY, Philippines (PNA) – The city government here is set to hire a total of 110 more workers to fill in the vacant positions in various departments at the City Hall. Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) acting chief Erwin Alparaque said the vacancies are either contractual or permanent positions.
Alparaque said the large chunk of the 110 vacancies at the City Hall has been requested by the City Mayor’s Office totaling to 17 vacancies. Alparaque said of the 19 departments at the City Hall, 15 have requested personnel augmentation or have posted vacancies in their respective offices.
Public welfare
BUTUAN CITY – Civil Engineers were reminded to be responsible in their daily undertakings for the good of the public. “The role of engineers is so crucial and pivotal to the growth and development, and also a noble profession with social responsibility,” said Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Romeo S. Momo.
“You’re great not because of your masterpiece but your impact to the society as partners of growth is very vital,” added Momo. He said this at the 4th Caraga Technical Conference held here recently. “After all, this is good for the public and not only gains of the government,” he said. (Mike Crismundo)
Skills registry
PANABO CITY (PIA) – The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) here has intensified its program on eradicating job-skills mismatch and on ensuring quality employment down to the grassroots level by updating its Skills Registry System (SRS). City PESO has recently linked an agreement with the regional office of the Department of Labor and Employment in connection with the SRS.
The SRS is a live skills register where both employers and employees can respectively advertise their manpower requirements and skills, thereby facilitating job-matching. The city government has committed to mobilize village officials and personnel to assist in the implementation of SRS activities.
Wood workers
BUTUAN CITY – Some 200,000 wood employees and workers are seeking help from the Caraga Conference for Peace and Development (CCPD) due to alleged severe hunger that they encountered nowadays.
Aside from the wood employees and workers, more than 2,000 families engaged into tree farming in their respective private lands as their livelihood and main source of income also appealed for help.
In their appeal, to the national government, they are requesting for the earliest resumption of operation of small wood mills in this region’s capital city and other parts in the five provinces and six cities in Northeastern Mindanao. (Mike Crismundo)

KORONADAL CITY (PIA) – The Region-12 office of the Department of Education (DepEd-12) will embark into an educational development initiative to improve access to quality basic education for girls and boys in disadvantaged indigenous peoples and Muslim communities in the region.
The Philippines’ Response to Indigenous Peoples’ and Muslim Education (PRIME) will be implemented in the provinces of Sarangani, South Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat. This will be in partnership with the local government units, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.
