Beef sharing

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Philippines  – A centralized distribution of beef will highlight the observance of the Eid'l Adha Korban “Beef Sharing” festival here on Sunday, November 6. The beef distribution, which will take place at the Sagadan Trade Center, will start at 9 a.m.

The holders of beef coupons will be entitled to two kilos of fresh beef. The beef sharing event is spearheaded by the provincial government of Lanao del Norte in cooperation with Pacific Dialogue Foundations. Lanao del Norte is the first province in the Philippines that will celebrate this very significant festivity through meat sharing with its constituents. (Mike Crismundo)

Peace projects

BUTUAN CITY – At least P17.4 million worth of various peace and development projects are set to be implemented in conflict-affected communities in the Caraga Region early next year. It was learned that these government projects will come from the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan or PAMANA program of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.

Initially, a total of 58 conflict-affected barangays (CABs) will receive funding from the government for community-driven, peace-building, and development interventions. The program will be initially allocating some P300,000 for each of these villages under Pillar 2 on peace and development efforts. (Mike Crismundo)

Community meet

DIPOLOG CITY (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will hold a simultaneous community assembly of all potential Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in the 13 municipalities of Zamboanga del Norte.

Jose Cruz, DSWD-Zamboanga del Norte 4Ps Provincial Link, said the new batch of beneficiaries was determined after the National Household Targeting System-Revalidation was conducted in the said municipalities last May. The Pantawid ng Pamilyang Pilipino Program is an anti-poverty alleviation program of the government that provides cash assistance to the indigent families for their health and educational needs.

Feeding drive

ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat (PNA) – More than 20,000 children in 900 day-care centers in Sultan Kudarat benefited from the supplemental feeding program launched by the Region-12 office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-12).

DSWD-12 Assistant Director Gemma Rivera said the program has provided food to pre-school children for the past four months with a daily budget of P10 for each pupil. “We give them nutritious food so they will become healthy someday,” Rivera said. She urged parents to make sure that their children have taken breakfast before sending them to school.

Recovery summit

BUTUAN CITY – In an effort to strengthen the administration’s “Matuwid na Daan Tungo sa Kaunlaran” goal, the city government here will be hosting the first in Mindanao three-day “2011 National Moral Recovery Congress” next week.

The big event is expected to be participated in by local chief executives like governors, mayors, and legislators from all corners of Mindanao. Cabinet members from the Aquino administration led by Interior and Local Government Secretary Jessie Robredo and Education Secretary Armin Luistro are among the top speakers to attend the big event.
