Bacolod City holds first HRM and tourism management regional summit
BACOLOD CITY Negros Occ., Philippines — La Consolacion College (LCC) Bacolod’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, along with the Department of Tourism (DoT), Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Region 6, the Negros Occidental Tourism Center, and the Bacolod City Tourism Office recently held its First Hospitality and Tourism Management Regional Summit themed, “A Path to a Progressive Tourism Industry” held at the L’Fisher Hotel in Negros Occidental capital, Bacolod City.
Activities during the one-day Summit included a fashion show featuring the different provinces in the Western Visayas region followed by an oath-taking of newly elected officers of both Tourism Educators and Movers (TEAM) Philippines and the League of Tourism Students of the Philippines (LTSP) Western Visayas Chapter. Some 800 students from 24 different schools and universities from the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz and Negros Occidental were in attendance.
Tourism industry personalities headed by Republic of Latvia Consul General, Hon. Robert Lim Joseph; former DoT Undersecretary Oscar Palabyab; Prof. Xander Kim Sigua, founder of the League of Tourism Students of the Philippines; and Assistant Dean of the University of the Assumption, Pampanga, were the guest speakers during the said Summit.
