Camiguin forum
MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, Philippines – Noting the economic growth of this so called “Born of Fire” province of Camiguin due to its vast and rich-agricultural land and eco-tourism potentials, this capital town is hosting a two-day business and investment forum before the end of the year.
Invited for the two-day forum are business operators, grocery and sari-sari store owners, and industry stakeholders. In the business and investment forum, the various local government units (LGU) in the province, especially this capital town, will open up opportunities for investments to both foreign and local investors. Women's activity
BUTUAN CITY – The 18-day campaign to end violence against women will kick off here next week. Several activities are readied by the various committees for the women and the general public to participate, as well as exercise their rights against violence.
It was learned that this year’s campaign will also be a venue for a constructive dialogue among key government agencies and service providers on Violence Against Women (VAW) like crisis centers, social workers, healthcare providers, police and alternative law groups, discussion of various VAW aspects, including gender-based violence issues, the Region-13 office of the Commission on Human Rights said. COTABATO CITY – Incumbent officials of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) has urged recruitment agencies serving the ARMM areas to apply for an accreditation from regional authorities to legalize their operations in the region.
ARMM’s Labor Secretary Myra M. Alih told concerned recruitment agencies that while they may have been accredited by the Department of Labor and Employment national office, they still need to get regional accreditation for their smooth activities in the autonomous region. Alih said there are 60 recruitment agencies operating in the area of autonomy, but not one of them has applied yet for accreditation from the DoLE-ARMM. (Ali Macabalang)
Surigao facility
SAN AGUSTIN, Surigao del Sur – A modern 2-storey station of the San Agustin Municipal Police Station here was inaugurated Tuesday. The blessing, turnover, and acceptance rites of the new police facility was graced by regional, provincial, and city police officials led by Chief Supt. Isagani F. Genabe Jr., Deputy Regional Director for Administration.
The blessing was also graced by Surigao del Sur Governor Johnny T. Pimentel, Vice Governor Manuel O. Alameda, and San Agustin Mayor Honolulu C. Go. The construction of the P5-million facility was financed by the Philippine National Police and this town. (Mike Crismundo)
New policemen
BUTUAN CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced the recruitment of some 2,261 new Police officers 1 for Calendar Year 2011. Supt. Martin M. Gamba, regional spokesman of the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO-13) said the additional quota has been approved by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome.
According to Gamba, the PNP is recruiting 400 personnel for the Special Action Force (SAF), 931 for the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), 465 for PRO-7, and 465 for PRO-10. (Mike Crismundo)
