Eastern Visayas brownout schedule announced

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Philippines (PIA) — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has made known the scheduled shutdown of some of its transmission facilities in parts of Leyte and Eastern Samar provinces on Tuesday and November 30, 2011.

From 9 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday, there will be power interruption in Jipapad, Arteche, San Policarpo, Oras, Dolores, Can-avid, Taft, Sulat, San Julian, Borongan, Maydolong, Balangkayan and Llorente in Eastern Samar due to maintenance work at the Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative Inc. (ESAMELCO)’s Taft Substation.

On Wednesday, Nov. 30, there will be a 20-minute power brownout between 5-6 p.m. in Inopacan, Hindang, Hilongos, Bato, Matalom and Baybay City in Leyte under Leyte IV Electric Cooperative Inc. (LEYECO IV) coverage, due to load normalization in line with electric poles replacement along the Ormoc-Baybay 69-kV Transmission Line.

Also on Nov.30, for 20 minutes between 7 a.m.. and 8 a.m., there will be no power in Kananga, Matag-ob, Ormoc City, Albuera, and parts of Villaba under the Leyte V Electric Cooperative Inc. (LEYECO V) franchise area due to the isolation of the affected portion in line with the replacement of poles along the Ormoc-Baybay 69kV transmission line.

Still on Nov. 30, for some 20 minutes between 5 – 6 p.m., there will be no power in Albuera, Leyte due to LEYECO V’s load normalization likewise in line with poles replacement along the Ormoc-Baybay 69-kV transmission line.

Finally, again on the same date, and also for some 20 minutes between 7-8 a.m., and again also for some 20 minutes between 5-6 p.m., there will be power interruption at the Visayan Oil Mills Inc. due to the isolation of the affected portion in line with the replacement of poles along the Ormoc-Baybay 69kV Transmission Line.

The NGCP gave assurances that normal operations will immediately resume after work completion. NGCP’s customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption.
