Quality education for Sulu pushed
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Close to 500 educators from Sulu attended a one-day education management conference held in this city that is aimed at uplifting the system of education in the province – particularly in the elementary and secondary levels.
The conference dubbed “First Sulu II Division Management Conference” was held at a local hotel here with teachers coming from the 2nd Congressional District of Sulu attended enthusiastically.
As this developed, Representative Nur Anna Sahidulla (2nd District, Sulu), who delivered an inspirational message at the forum, has vowed to assist the mentors under her district by adopting legislative measures at the House of Representatives to improve further the system of education in Sulu.
In her message, Sahidulla said that “as your humble voice in the House of Representatives, rest assured that I will relentlessly pursue legislative measures and agenda to support the education program for our very own school children in the 2nd Congressional District.”
Sahidulla also congratulated the teachers for attending the conference, saying “I am sure and I know you have both the creativity and the compassion required to effect changes at the classroom level.”
She told the mentors that education requires their participation to think global and aim high, and use classroom teaching as a tool in building a progressive community in the countryside.
She also asked the teachers to envision an ideal school, a school wherein the participation rate is very high, and drop-out rate is virtually non-existent.
To attain this objective, Sahidulla suggested that to make teaching and learning more effective, “our schools have to be organized around a child-friendly environment…where happy teachers and children co-exist to have a better and working community.”
She also reminded the teachers that education is the key factor to attain development.
Sahidulla said she will also seek the assistance of the Department of Education (DepEd) to help the mentors under her district, in order to advance their education expertise so they can prepare the children for a better tomorrow.
“These teachers and education officials have to regularly undergo training and seminars to polish their knowledge in education, and acquire new system and techniques in teaching in the countryside,” Sahidulla said.
