Farmer's day
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) – With the theme “Haum nga Teknolohiya Kalambuan sa Pagpanguma (Appropriate Technology Development in Farming),” the Claveria Experiment Station (CES) held its 10th farmers field day and techno forum recently.
Now called the Agribusiness Development Station, the CES is responsible in conducting research and development activities with major emphasis on technology commercialization of various commodities.
The field day is one of the strategies in disseminating technologies for upland/hilly land farmers, and likewise strengthens partnership with the local government units, state colleges and universities, private companies.
Lighting event
BUTUAN CITY – The city government here started the Christmas festivities Friday night by switching on the Christmas lights along the main thoroughfares and giant Christmas trees at the City Hall and Rizal Park, to the delight of local residents who witnessed the “Light up Butuan” event. The countdown for Christmas Day started with a colorful fireworks display.
And to share the true spirit of Christmas, Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante Jr. announced that at least 19,000 packed grocery items are set for distribution to “the poorest of the poor” constituents of this city. (Mike Crismundo)
Torch parade
ISABELA CITY, Basilan (PIA) – The Army’s 4th Civil Relations Group of the Civil Relations Service (CRG-CRS) lauded peace advocates for the successful conduct of the December 1 torch parade that was one of the highlights of the Mindanao Week of Peace event.
Air Force Lt. Colonel Gamal S. Hayudini, commander of the 4th CRG-CRS, said the participation of the various stakeholders during the activity that was initiated by the peace Advocates of Zamboanga and Interreligious Solidarity Movement for Peace were indications that the Internal Peace and Security Plan “Bayanihan” is fully complemented.
Polanco fest
POLANCO, Zamboanga del Norte (PIA) – With this municipality turning 60 years old on December 8, the municipal government headed by Mayor Anacleto H. Olvis Jr. is now spearheading a weeklong celebration with a number of activities.
A grand and colorful costume parade participated in by municipal officials and employees, national government agencies, teachers and students of elementary and secondary schools, village officials, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders kicked off the celebration Thursday.
Drum corps competitions, fireworks display, presentation of the 30 candidates vying for the “Mutya ng Polanco 2011” title, and other events were also held Thursday.
Butuan E-Blotter
BUTUAN CITY – For a quick response and efficient public service, an E-Blotter Crime Incident Reporting System was launched by the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) over the weekend. Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante Jr. and Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome spearheaded the launching together with other national and local officials.
The BCPO is the first PNP unit to implement the said system outside Luzon. This technology aims to expedite and ease up crime reporting, prevent tampering of records, and simplify crime monitoring. (Mike Crismundo)
