Inclusion of Tindahang Pinoy in travel tour operators’ itineraries urged

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu, Philippines — The Cebu-Gifts Toys and Houseware Foundation Inc. (Cebu-GTH) is set to tap tour operators in Cebu to include Tindahang Pinoy, a one-stop-shop for all exported goods and local produce in the province, as part of the operators’ itineraries.

Cebu-GTH President Ramir Bonghanoy said that proponents of the Tindahang Pinoy, which are in close coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), will soon sign an agreement with tour guides and tour operator associations in Cebu, in helping promote the product depot to local and foreign tourists.

“For the first time, we are making available to our tourists and local buyers a permanent facility where they can shop products manufactured by our globally-renowned exporters,” said DTI-Central Visayas Director Asteria Caberte, who, along with other export organization leaders, government officials and business stakeholders, attended the opening of Tindahanag Pinoy last Monday, December 5, at the Bridges Commercial Center.

Caberte described the tourism sector as a “low-hanging fruit,” a sector which opportunities for growth, thus fitting for exporters with world-class products to showcase these and penetrate the domestic market, specifically in the area of tourism.
