Maliksi back as Imus mayor
IMUS, Cavite, Philippines — Emmanuel L. Maliksi returned Wednesday to the municipal hall of this provincial capital as its mayor, regaining control from formerly-proclaimed local chief executive Homer T. Saquilayan who, along with his hundreds of supporters left peacefully and orderly.
When the 42-year-old Maliksi, a former mayor of Imus, and his yellow t-shirt-wearing supporters, entered the municipal hall, the court-unseated Saquilayan, 56, and his followers, who wore white t-shirt and black arm bands, were no longer in the area.
Earlier, Maliksi was sworn in as mayor by Senator Panfilo M. Lacson, a Caviteño and ally of President Benigno S. Aquino III, at the sala of Imus Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 22 Judge Cesar A. Mangrobang.
During the day, Vice Mayor Armando Ilano and the Sangguniang Bayan (Town Council) members approved a resolution recognizing Maliksi as mayor of Imus.
