KALIBO, Aklan, Philippines (PIA6) — Aklan’s collections for 2011 from its two jetty ports serving Boracay Island have reached a total of P118,404,245.22, or a 5.22 percent increase from the previous year’s P12,526,619.65 total.

This was bared by Aklan Governor Carlito S. Marquez in his monthly report of activities and accomplishments recently aired over a local radio station here.

The jetty ports being managed by the province are located at Caticlan, Malay, the jump-off point to Boracay Island, and at Cagban on Boracay Island itself.

Based on data furnished by the Economic Enterprise Development Department (EEDD) to Marquez, collections peaked in April with collections amounting to P16,672,22.73, followed by May with P14,262,122.89 and December with P11,226,927.10.

Data on the number of tourist arrivals followed the same trend, according to the report.

The month of September last year registered the leanest figure of collections with P3,975,562.84, partly due to weather disturbances that prevented visitors from visiting Boracay.
