MANILA, Philippines — A businessman lost his sports utility vehicle (SUV) that was forcibly taken by armed carjackers after he arrived home in Quezon City from his morning jogging.

Investigator PO3 Dennis Telen Tuesday identified the victim as Pepito de Leon, 68, a resident of No. 205 Quirino Highway, Barangay Baesa, Quezon City.

De Leon told police that carjackers were able to take his gray Mitsubishi Montero with plate number CTP-418.

The complainant told police two unidentified men, one armed with .45 caliber pistol, stole his SUV.

Telen said that the 68-year-old victim had trouble pointing out possible suspects in the rogue gallery as well as in providing descriptions for artist sketches.

De Leon recounted that the carjacking took place at around 7:15 a.m. Monday in front of his home.

The victim said that he had just arrived home driving his Montero after having finished his routine morning jogging.

When he arrived, the complainant said that he got out his SUV to open the gate of his house to park his Montero.

As he was about to return to his Montero, he said that the two suspects suddenly appeared and pointed a gun at him.

The investigator said that the suspects might have observed De Leon’s morning routine and were already waiting for the victim to arrive that day.

De Leon said one of the suspects took his key and boarded the driver’s seat while he was forced to get into the back passenger seat with the other carjacker who was armed.

The victim told police that the suspects even reached Mindanao Avenue but made a U-turn heading towards the direction of Caloocan City.

They eventually reached the area of Bagong Barrio in Caloocan where he was dropped off by the suspects.
