LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Philippines — At least 200 persons with disabilities (PWDs) belonging to the group, Natatanging Sektor sa Lungsod ng Lucena, Incorporated (NSLLI), said Tuesday that they want a better chance at proving their productivity and competitiveness in various fields.

During a recent general assembly of the NSLLI, members told Councilor Ramil Talaga called on the city government to help them prove their worth.

Talaga said that the city government admires the attitude of PWDs in the city who strive to perform in society like normal persons with greater determination at doing their best in their respective jobs.

He said Mayor Barbara Ruby Talaga has initiated livelihood programs and provided college scholarships for PWDs because of the city government’s belief in the capabilities and potential of PWDs.

Among the livelihood programs of the city government extended to NSLLI members are ‘sari-sari store’, massage therapy, hair cutting, doormat making and ‘kikay’ kit making.
