LILOAN, Cebu, Philippines — Aiming not only to encourage a healthy lifestyle but also promote eco-tourism, Cebu-based Primer Group of Companies which exclusively distributes outdoor gear brand Columbia, will host the fifth leg of its Columbia Eco Trail Run. The firm chose Liloan after realizing its vast eco-tourism potentials.

“We do not only think of marketing through the hosting of trail runs but we also greatly consider the protection of the environment by limiting the number of participants in such runs,” Dino de Leon of the Primer Group of Companies said.

The said event will take place Feb. 5 in Brgy. Mulao, this town with 250 participant maximum.

Dino explained that while other running events want to accommodate many participants, “trail running is different” as it considers limits to the number of participants to prevent environmental damages in the host community.

Meanwhile, race director Ralph Pilapil said the 12.6K open division eco-trail run is distinct from previous races because the route will be more difficult.
