DoE launches E-trike design contest
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Energy (DoE) Wednesday launched an E-trike design contest as part of its campaign for an environment-friendly, sustainable and energy-efficient means of transport.
Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, speaking at the CNEX Forum Wednesday at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), said the agency is looking for the “best and most practical” design for E-trikes or electrical tricycles that can be used by Filipinos in their daily lives.
Conventional tricycles run on gasoline and produces emissions that worsen pollution.
The contest, which has the theme, “Bright Now! Do Right. Be Bright. Go E-trike!” is open to all Filipino individuals or groups, as long as they are at least 18 years old and are currently residing in the country.
Contest entries must be submitted in the form of 2-D and 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) drawings depicting a three-wheeled electric vehicle with a maximum capacity of six passengers, excluding the driver.
