MANILA, Philippines – Young half-Filipino Disney star Roshon Fegan is ready and excited to achieve more in his Hollywood career this year.

The 19-year-old actor and rapper begins with his EP, “I Am Ro,” which will be released on Feb. 14. The record features the first single, “I Am.”

“2012 is really a big year for me, ‘coz I got a lot of things I’m getting prepared to do,” he told “TV Patrol” in an interview aired Jan. 26.

Although he lives miles away from the Philippines, Roshon, who’s born to a Filipino mother and an African-American father, proudly wears his roots on his sleeves.

“That’s what I’m doin’, I’m representing… I’m blessed to be a Filipino and blessed to be representing on the [Disney] channel and hopefully there’s more of us coming soon,” he enthused.

Roshon began his Disney career in 2008 by appearing in the Jonas Brothers-bannered film “Camp Rock,” which also featured another half-Filipino, singer-actress Anna Maria Perez de Tagle. They both appeared in its sequel, “The Final Jam,” which was released in 2010. He was also part of the TV series “Monk” (2006), and the film “Spider-Man 2” (2004). He currently leads the cast of the Disney original series, “Shake It Up!”

At a young age, Roshon writes and produces his own music under his independent label, 3inaRo Records. With influences such as Will.I.Am of The Black Eyed Peas, Tmbaland, JR Totem, and Justin Timberlake, he described his music thus: “an original sound fusing hip-hop and R&B devoid of samples, just great tracks pumping a unique sound with lyrics that convey confidence and swag.”

He hopes to honor his Filipino roots through rap songs, apparently similar to BEP's Fil-Am member apl.de.ap’s ode to the country, “The Apl Song.”

“Man, I love The Black Eyed Peas, I love Apl, everything down to my Filipino grandma’s house down to the chicken adobo she cooks down to, wazzup, I love rice,” Roshon said on "TV Patrol," chuckling.

Roshon looks forward to visiting the Philippines and seeing his relatives as well as his fans here.
