Job Opening
BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Philippine Overseas Employment Administration Regional Center for Mindanao chief Maria Carolina Agdamag said the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is in need of 2,000 female nurses. The position offers a basic salary of 3,150 Saudi Riyal or about P36,000 based on the latest currency exchange rate.
Qualified applicants must be graduates of Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Board License, and must not be more than 40 years old. Other required documents are employment certificates, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) credentials, valid National Bureau of Investigation clearance, original and photocopy of the first page of the passport, and six copies of 2x2 recent photos. Food Monitoring
DAVAO CITY (PNA) – Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio vowed to strengthen monitoring on the sale of street food in order to protect the health of Dabawenyos.
This developed after the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) here released initial findings on their study on quality and safety of street food.
The mayor noted that street food must be accompanied with proper handling and must be safe. To address the matter, she urged the City Council to craft a corresponding law on regulating and selling of street foods in the city.
Village Services
TUPI, South Cotabato (PIA) – The municipal government here is strengthening its “Munisipyo sa Barangay” program by reaching out to the farthest villages to bring basic services “closer to the people.”
It was learned that the recent “barangayan” in Miasong was part of the second round of the Munisipyo sa barangay program of Mayor Reynaldo S. Tamay Jr. that started in Barangay Cebuano last year, and is expected to serve the other 14 villages within a year.
Tamay is pushing for the second year implementation of the program to reach out to those who were not able to avail of the free services.
Turtle Protection
DAVAO CITY – After being caught discarding parts of a sea turtle like any other rubbish found in bins, the mayor here wants the City Council to declare the owner of a South Korean vessel along with its voyagers onboard as “persona non grata.”
The Missionaries of Hannah International Mobilization on board M/V Hannah II were in hot water this week for throwing the head and other parts of a green sea turtle into a garbage bin at the Sta. Ana Pier, this city.
Green sea turtles are listed as endangered by the World Conservation Union and the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. (Mick Basa)
Loan Moratorium
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) – The National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) is implementing a six-month moratorium on housing loan payments for borrowers affected by Tropical Storm Sendong in the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.
According to NHMFC-Cagayan de Oro Satellite Office head Leonida R. Sabio, the moratorium will cover amortization payments from January to June 2012.
The filled-up application form, together with a certification from their respective village chieftain, should be submitted at the NHMFC Cagayan de Oro Satellite Office located at the M/F of the Consuelo Building, Corrales Avenue, this city.
