MANILA, Philippines — The government’s water and sanitation program for waterless municipalities has gained headway in Central Luzon with three municipalities in Nueva Ecija as the latest recipients of some P25 million in grants from the Department of Health (DoH).

The DoH has entrusted the funds to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) under the “Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat” or SaLiNTubig Project to bankroll potable water systems in Nueva Ecija, said Acting DILG Provincial Director Odilon Luis Pasaraba.

He said recipients of the SaLiNTubig Project, jointly implemented by the DOH, DILG, and the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), are the municipalities of Kayapa with P8 million of the grant; Sta. Fe with P10 million; and Dupax del Sur with P7 million.

“The municipalities of Kayapa and Sta. Fe were already given their corresponding funding assistance for the project. The fund for Dupax del Sur town is expected to be released this year,” Pasaraba said.
