DENR 7 Completes Assessment, Delineation Of Boundaries In Central Visayas
CEBU CITY, Cebu, Philippines — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 7 said it has completed assessment and delineation of boundaries between forestlands, national parks and agricultural lands totaling 8,838.355 kilometers in Central Visayas.
This, after a Regional Assessment and Delineation Team (RADT) and Land Evaluation Party (LEP) were organized in 2008 to gather necessary data, inventory, compile and integrate available reference maps, and textual and tabular information needed to assess and delineate forestland, national park, and agricultural land boundaries.
DENR 7 regional executive director Maximo O. Dichoso said a total of 8,838.355 kilometers of forestland boundary in four provinces in the region was successfully assessed and delineated.
Results of the evaluation showed that Cebu has 3,184.83 kilometers or 36.03 percent followed by Bohol with 2,880.029 kilometers or 32.59 percent, Negros Oriental with 2,536.685 kilometers or 28.70 percent, and Siquijor with 236.811 kilometers or 2.70 percent.
