Kanapi, Javier Rule Mango Tee

MANILA, Philippines — Shell executive Bobby Kanapi and Dennis Javier exploded with 85 points in their second and final round to snatch the coveted overall crown even as JB Garcia and King Stehmeier completed a back-to-back romp of the low gross title in the 28th edition of the Mango Tee member-guest golf tournament of the Alabang Country Club inside the posh Ayala-Alabang Village.

Kanapi and Javier put themselves in the hunt with a 76 in their opening round and made a nine-point improvement when they returned to complete their campaign that cleared the way for a three-point win over Bonnie Pimentel and Joseph Tambunting in the six-day tourney participated in by 375 member-guest teams.

Pimentel and Tambunting settled for the Class A crown with a 77-81-158 score, five ahead of Aian Arcilla and Tonito Payumo (73-80-153).

Garcia and Stehmeier, meanwhile, needed the breaks on the closing holes to repeat as low gross champs in the event backed by Smart Communications, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum, Inc., Pancake House and Yellow Cab as presentors and by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines, Inc., Citimotors, Club Car, Yamaha/Kart Plaza,Texas Eagle and Mizuno/Tour Master as hole-in-one sponsors.

Omni Source and Business Mirror are gold sponsors while silver sponsors are Golforce, BPI Assets, Acacia Hotel, BJ Marthel Int’l, Inc. and Eurotel.
