Liquid Nitro Plant Serves Farmers
MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon, Philippines — A large number of farmers and animal growers have started coming here to avail themselves of the newly constructed Liquid Nitrogen2 (LN2) plant.
The newly constructed LN2 plant is a key component of a program to upgrade the breeds of cattle, carabaos, goats and sheep. The plant will also provide access to livestock raisers in securing large and small ruminant semen while also obtaining liquefied nitrogen that maintains the semen’s potency. Accordingly, it will primarily boost the livestock production here in the region.
The plant is located at the Malaybalay Stock Farm, Dalwangan here, one of the research stations of the Department of Agriculture Field Office (DA-Region 10).
The new LN2 plant will directly serve the 42 local government units (LGUs) in Northern Mindanao, especially those engaged in AI projects, including the nearby regions of SOCCSKARGEN (Region 12), the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), Caraga (Region-13) and Western Mindanao (Region 9).
The construction of the P5-million worth facility was made possible through the DA and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
