REAL, Quezon, Philippines — A detour bridge reportedly collapsed in Barangay Capalong, this town, on Sunday night and has since been rendered impassable to all types of vehicles, local authorities said Monday.

In his report to Dr. Henry Buzar of the Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) Coordinator Rommel Poblete said that only pedestrians can pass the old bridge.

Poblete said motorists and commuter buses had to turn back, stranding passengers traveling to Manila from this town, Gen. Nakar and Infanta.

He said repairing of the bridge is ongoing and motorists will have to wait it out.

Buzar said the bridge is the only way in and out of this town for land vehicles.
