ANGELES CITY, Pampanga, Philippines — The National Executive Board (NEB) of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) has approved a resolution that will ease the burden of indigent patients seeking dialysis treatments and chemotherapy procedures.

Member-cities of the LCP unanimously approved the resolution filed by Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan that calls for the setting aside of 5 percent of the annual national operating budgets of the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and the Office of the President thru the President’s Social Fund.

According to Pamintuan, the said fund will be used for the establishment and construction of public renal care units and chemotherapy centers in local government units (LGUs) particularly in the 152 cities of the Philippines.

He said that the host cities will supervise the management and operations of the renal care and chemotherapy units and will provide counterpart funding coming from the LGU local revenues.
