‘OTJ’ wins big at PMPC Star Awards

The internationally acclaimed crime-thriller “On The Job” was the biggest winner at the 30th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Movies, with seven trophies.

“On The Job” was named Movie of the Year, while its director Erik Matti bagged the Director Of The Year award.

The movie also earned the Movie Supporting Actor of the Year award for Joey Marquez, the Movie Screenwriter of the Year award for Matti and Michiko Yamamoto, Movie Cinematographer of the Year award for Ricardo Buhay III, Movie Editor of the Year award for Jay Halili and Movie Sound Engineer of the Year award for Corinne de San Jose.

Meanwhile, honored with the Movie Actor of the Year award is Vice Ganda for his performance in “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy.”

The Movie Actress of the Year award went to KC Concepcion for her performance in “Shoot To Kill: Boy Golden.”

Both were not present to accept their awards personally due to prior commitments abroad. They, however, expressed elation via Twitter.

“The Year Of The Horse indeed!!!” the comedian quipped.

KC, for her part, posted: “Thank u to my mentors Tita @BeverlyVergel & coach Abby who were the first to convince me to accept the role of Marla Dee!!! #BoyGolden. Congratulations, Direk CHITO ROÑO on winning Best Indie Movie Director & Mr. Joel Bilbao/ Fritz Silorio for Best Movie Production Designers! The whole #BoyGolden team deserves 2b recognized. My first Best Actress award is also for all of u. From utility, to PA, to our prod team. Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino.”

The PMPC honored veteran film-theater actress Rustica Carpio with the Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award, while filmmaker Peque Gallaga and screenwriter Ricky Lee received the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award.
