Over 10,000 land titles issued in Region 7 so far

Larena, Siquijor – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Central Visayas (DENR) 7 said it has issued a total of 10,838 land titles so far this year.

Of these total land titles distributed ending July 31, 9,499 were agricultural patents while 1,339 were residential patents.

The figures constitute some 55 percent of total target of 17,287 agricultural patents, and 43 percent of 3,136 residential patents that DENR-7 aims to issue in 2014, said DENR-7 Executive Director Isabelo Montejo.

Based on the report by the DENR-7’s land management services (LMS) as of July 31, Cebu received 1,365 agricultural patents and 303 residential patents while Bohol received 7,646 agricultural patents and 593 residential patents.

Negros Oriental, meanwhile, received 303 agricultural and 423 residential patents, while the province of Siquijor received 16 agricultural patents.

Montejo said the department will continue to pursue its serious efforts in patent issuance to improve overall productivity of idle lands in the region, while at the same time boosting economic prosperity in the countryside.

“We have been doing our best to further intensify our efforts to fast track the processing and issuance of patents in Region 7, so that for this year we will able to meet, if not exceed our targets,” Montejo added.

DENR-7 is now gearing up to complete its balance of 7,788 and 1,797 agricultural and residential patents, respectively, by November 30 this year by expediting the approval of subdivision plans, and informing the applicants immediately after the assessment or submission of patent applications on the lacking requirements.

Montejo stressed the need to issue patents as, he said, this will redound to overall productivity of idle lands in the region and will thus ultimately boost economic prosperity in the countryside.
