Over 35,000 to take PNP exams

A total of 35,357 people will take the Philippine National Police (PNP) entrance and promotional examinations on Sunday (April 27).

It will be administered by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) in designated test centers nationwide.

NAPOLCOM Vice Chairman Eduardo Escueta said that 14,256 will take the entrance exam while 21,101 are distributed to different test categories.

A total of 1,151 out of the 14,256 and 3,797 out of 21,101 will be taking the exam in the different National Capital Region (NCR) testing centers. These are Pitogo High School, Benigno Aquino High School, and Fort Bonifacio High School, all in Makati City.

The examinations will cover the qualifying examination for Police Officer I and the promotional examinations for Police Officers 2 and 3; Senior Police Officer (for SPO1 to SPO4); Police Inspector (for Inspector and Senior Inspector); and Police Superintendent (for Chief Inspector and Superintendent).

“The PNP entrance examination consists of questions on general information, verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and logical reasoning; while the promotional examinations include general information, police administration and operations, and police customs and traditions or values, and ethical standards,” said Escueta.

There are strict policies imposed by the commission, which include “No cellphone or electronic gadget,” as well as “No firearms.”

The NAPOLCOM stressed that any form of cheating will automatically be met with severe penalty.

Civilian examinees will be permanently barred from taking the PNP entrance examination should they be caught cheating. Before, they would only be barred for three years.

If a police officer is caught cheating, then he or she shall be charged with dishonesty and if found guilty, be dismissed from service.
