Pinoys make waves at WCOPA 2014
The Philippines’ prized talents, Davao-raised Lloyd Edisonne Judilla Montebon and dance group Xtreme Dancers, took home the top awards at the recent 18th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Hollywood, California, USA.
As posted on WCOPA’s official website, Montebon and Xtreme Dancers bagged the most-coveted Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World and Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World, respectively.
Aside from the grand plum, Montebon was named Vocalist of the World. His dazzling number was a version of Frank Sinatra’s “The Impossible Dream.”
Jed Madela, the first Filipino to win the WCOPA world grand champion title in 2005, proudly announced the kid’s victory by posting a photo of them together on Instagram last Saturday.
He captioned it: “Two years grand slam! Lloyd Montebon is the 2014 Junior Grand Champion Vocalist of the World… Go Pinoy!”
Jed also posted a photo of him standing beside two members of Xtreme Dancers on social media. Notably, the group also clinched the Dance Group of the World title.
WCOPA is an annual international competition for dancing, singing, acting, modeling, instrumentals, and variety arts held in the entertainment capital of the world.
