PNP ‘50/50’ on solving reporter’s slay
Camp Garcia, Cavite — Despite a call from Malacañang for a swift solution of the murder of Cavite-based Remate correspondent Rubie Garcia, the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) spokesman said yesterday that solving the crime only has a “50/50” chance as of now.
It may take time for the Special Investigating Task Group (SITG) to solve the shooting as probers still have no sure motive in the killing, said Superintendent Gerardo Lacorte Umayao.
Eight days after Garcia was gunned down inside her home in Bacoor City, Umayao said that the SITG is still looking into two angles – Garcia’s money-lending business, and her writings as a journalist.
Today, Garcia’s remains are set to be interred at Angelus Eternal Garden in Bacoor City after a mass at the nearby Saint Michael the Archangel Parish Church. (Anthony Giron)
