PALO, Leyte, Philippines — Officers and members of the PNP Eastern Visayas Press Corps will hold its general assembly and election of officers Tuesday afternoon in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Headquarters at Camp Ruperto K. Kangleon here.
Ven Veridiano, President of the PNP Press Corps, said the general assembly, hosted by the PNP Regional Command, aims to promote good working relationship between the police and the media in Eastern Visayas.
In the agenda are the ratification of the constitution and by-laws of the press corps, election of officers, signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the PNP and local tri-media during crisis situation and other issues. (Nestor L.Abrematea)
Landslide clearing goes bayanihan
KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) in Madalag, Aklan recently joined forces bayanihan-style, to clear a landslide-affected road in the town proper.
A report by PO2 Nida Gregas, Information Officer of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) said the landslide was caused by prolonged heavy rains in the are.
Said bayanihan effort was initiated by the PNP in Madalang led by the station’s police chief, Inspector Belshazzar Villanoche and aided by BPAT members composed of barangay officials and tanods of Poblacion Madalag.
The clearing involved moving tons of landslide containing rocks and mud which had accumulated in the area, rendering it impassable to vehicles.
Hataw exercise launched
SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) – A ‘Hataw” exercise was launched here Monday, spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office.
Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo, OIC Provincial Health Officer, said the activity began at 5:30 A.M. with a fun run to the EBJ Gymnasium.
The main Hataw Dance Exercise followed at 7:30 A.M. until 8:15 A.M. afterwards.
This activity is a project of the Department of Health’s Healthy Lifestyle campaign which was launched in 2009 focusing on the prevention of risk factors giving rise to the incidence of four main chronic diseases: cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes.
Nursing examinees forum slated
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) will conduct a lecture-forum on nursing core competency standards and licensure framework on March 17 here.
PRC Regional Director Lily Ann R. Baldago said the activity was conceived to enhance the comprehension level of those taking the tests on nursing licensure examinations.
She said the activity is an initiative of the Board of Nursing to help examinees comprehend how questions in the licensure examinations are formulated.
Weed worth P1-M confiscated
BADIAN, Cebu - An estimated P1 million worth of marijuana plants were seized from a marijuana plantation in the mountain barangay of Patong, Badian town during a joint operation of three law enforcement agencies - Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 and Philippine Air Force 2nd Air Division.
Operatives took 350 marijuana plants as evidence and burned some 3,000 fully grown plants and 12,000 seedlings. (Mars W. Mosqueda, Jr.)
