KALIBO, Aklan, Philippines (PIA) – The Department of Energy (DoE) will hold Tuesday a briefing on the Public Transport Assistance Program (PTAP) or the Pantawid Pasada Program here. The program provides jeepney operators whose franchises and documents are updated with P1,050 financial assistance loaded through Pantawid Pasada cards, while tricycle franchisees will get P150.00 each.
The financial assistance will be given one-time only but beneficiaries should not throw the cards away as these will be valid for five more years and may be used again for future assistance. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulation Board (LTFRB) Western Visayas says there is a total of 371 jeepney franchise holders in Aklan province.
PROSAC set for 'Balik Eskwela'
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has set up the Police Regional Office School Assistance Center (PROSAC) under the government’s “Balik Eskwela 2011” campaign. The move is to ensure safety and welfare of elementary and high school students in Tacloban City schools.
Also, in consonance with the PNP’s anti-criminality program, the Tacloban City Police Office has intensified its anti-criminality campaign in this city, with police personnel assigned in different schools to maintain peace and order.
IWMC summit
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) – A one-day summit will be held Tuesday at Punta Villa Resort here by the Iloilo Watershed Management Council (IWMC) to put together plans and programs of 23 watersheds in the province.
Event convenor, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO)-Iloilo said some 13 watershed management boards led by the Tigum-Aganan Watershed Management Board, will present their plans to the panel.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the region will also present its plans and programs for forestry management and approaches for the National Greening Program (NGP) in the province.

He said City Council Resolution No.1 12-2382-2011, approved by city councilors allowing the operation of Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR)-accredited Queen City E-gaming Corp. is contrary to ordinance 1860 which states that it is “unlawful to install, establish and operate internet casino gaming on internet cafes and other similar establishments within the city’s territorial jurisdiction.
Queen City E-gaming Corp. is one of over 180 bingo parlors and e-games internet cafes that Pagcor runs in various cities in the country. (Mars W. Mosqueda, Jr.)
E Samar army training program
BORONGAN, Eastern Samar (PIA) – Eastern Samar Governor Conrado Nicart Jr. supports the army training program going on at the 8th Infantry Division (8th ID) by shelling out a modest amount to construct student barracks for new entrants to the Philippine Army Candidate Soldier Course Class 273-11.
Said candidate soldiers are aged 18 to 26 years old; 88 are from the Visayas, 15 from Mindanao and 18 from Luzon.
Two of these candidates this year are registered nurses aspiring to join the enlisted rank of the Philippine Army.
