CEBU CITY, Cebu, Philippnes (PIA) — Pag-IBIG calls on all employers to register and update pertinent information using the Fund’s online employer registration system accessed at www.pagibigfund.gov.ph [1].
Effective July 1, all transactions with Pag-IBIG Fund will be based on Members Identification (MID) or Registration Tracking Number (RTN). Employers must ensure employees are registered with the Fund.
Those who do not have MID or RTN must register online. Members without MID or RTN due to non-registration may experience difficulty or delay in the posting of their contributions.
BFAR's anti-illegal fishing advocacy
CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) — Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 7 Regional Director Andres Bojos is calling on local government units (LGU) in the region to heighten their efforts to stop the illegal harvest of endangered coral species and urged the public to report any such violations.
Many ornamental fish in Central Visayas waters are being driven away by the degradation of their habitat. In Cebu, the city and provincial governments have widened the coverage of the Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force around the coastal areas of Cebu Province.
Jose Rizal youth exemplars chosen
CEBU (PIA) — Three young students from secondary and tertiary level schools here — Miko Cabatingan of Abellana National High School; Serge Lorenz Villasica of the Mandaue City Science High School and Ezekiel Majan of the Cebu City National Science High - joined 32 others that completed the 35 youths nationwide who took their oath as “Jose P. Rizal Youth Exemplars” last June 17 at the CCP Complex in Pasay City.
They were chosen by a nationwide search conducted by the Philippine Center for Gifted Education (PCGE) for 35 youths to serve as “Exemplars” willing to commit their lives to the ideals and principles of Philippine national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal whose 150th birthday was celebrated last June 19, 2011.

BORONGAN, E. Samar (PIA) — The GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GW@PS) kiosks installed at the Borongan City Hall and Eastern Samar capitol lobby have reduced the number of Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) clients flocking at the GSIS Borongan Satellite Office in Brgy. Songco, Borongan, Eastern Samar.
GSIS utility personnel say the number of clients in the office may have been reduced by 30 percent. Laarni Joy Carisma, GSIS personnel manning the information nook of GSIS here said, “It is almost lonely here, I miss the crowd,” she jested.
Town opposed to RH bill
DUMANJUG, Cebu — The municipal council here has passed a resolution opposing the Republic Health (RH) bill still being debated in the House. The resolution supports the stand of Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia who is an anti-RH bill advocate.
Dumanjug Mayor Nelson Garcia said the resolution was passed condemning RH bill after local officials found out that town residents are also opposed to the passing of the said bill. “We want to protect the sanctity of life, especially of those who are still in the womb of mothers,” said Garcia.
