MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte (PIA) — Rural folks here warmly welcome the presence of real nurses regularly visiting their far-flung, interior and mountain barangays here.
This observation was made by nurses Sunshine Segovia and Vanessa Uy, who served in the Department of Health (DoH)-led program Registered Nurses-Health Enhancement and Local Service (RN-HEALS).
Since February this year, they have been doing house-to-house medical routines like immunizing children, giving lectures on health and nutrition.
Ilonggo workers given DSWD aid
BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occ. (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region VI, through the city’s Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), distributed cash assistance to 162 agricultural and fisherfolk of Bacolod City recently.
The beneficiaries were from Barangays Banago, Singcang-Airport, Sum-ag, Alangilan, Punta Taytay, 1, 10 and 12. They were identified through the DSWD field office via the agency’s National Household Targeting System (NHTS) where some of these beneficiaries were also recipients of the 4P’s (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program).
Cash for work profits 2,068
MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte (PIA) — Two thousand sixty-eight (2,068) farmers and fisherfolks from Bontoc town here have benefitted from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)’s Cash for Work/Cash For Training program, a short-term intervention to help small farmers and fisherfolks and their families address the effects of increasing prices of commodities and fuel and tide them over during the lean months.
Gains cited in negornet anniversary
DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — The Negros Oriental Network (or NEGORNET) of non-government organizations (NGOs) and people's organizations (POs) recognized its success stories during its 8th anniversary celebration recently.
NEGORNET president, Msgr. Merlin Logronio particularly cited the "Timbayayong Awards," — considered a landmark achievement when it was created eight years ago. Said awards recognize efforts of NGOs, POs and the local government units to build strong partnership working together for local development projects.
NATCAC in Capiz province set
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — Some 400 candidates with various qualifications are expected to apply for the upcoming synchronized National TVET Competency Assessment and Certification (NATCAC) in Capiz — free on a first come, first serve basis — from August to November this year.
The NATCAC will be held at Dumalag Vocational Technical School (DVTS) in Dumalag, Capiz on August 22 to 26 for Automotive Servicing; Aug. 29 to Sept. 2 for Driving; Sept. 12 to 16 for Electrical Installation and Maintenance; Sept. 26 to 30 for Computer Hardware Servicing; October 10-14 for Food and Beverage Services, Commercial Cooking and Housekeeping; Oct. 24 to 28 for Consumer Electronics Servicing; and November 14 to 18 for Shielded Metal Arc Wielding.
