DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Philippines (PIA) — About 1,500 Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) delegates from Negros Oriental and Siquijor provinces are expected to participate in the 29th Council Junior, Senior, Cadet Encampment at Camp Lily Gamo, Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
The encampment happens September 15 to 18 with the theme: "GSP Saves Planet Earth.” Committees will undertake physical arrangements, health and sanitation, security and safety, transportation, publicity and promotions headed by over-all chairperson and Negros Oriental-Siquijor Council President, Dr. Profetiza Lim.
PhilHealth link now in hospitals
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) — Philhealth beneficiaries in Eastern Visayas will now have an easier way of verifying their membership with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) in the region formally establishing last Aug. 17 its communication center or Philhealth Link project.
Philhealth-8 vice president Walter Bacareza said the project will hasten verification of Philhealth members upon admission in provincial hospitals. Implementation of the link project will enable communications center in said hospitals to provide data about patients to facilitate their fast admission and ensure verification of their medical benefits.
Western Visayas barangay tanod tilt
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — Ivisan town peacekeepers will once again be Capiz province's entry to the Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanods in Western Visayas.
This after Operations Services Division Chief Llanie Destacamento of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in Capiz revealed that the barangay tanod of Ilaya-Ivisan in Ivisan town is again the provincial winner for said search here this year.
The said group, comprised of 22 members, has maintained its status in Capiz for three consecutive years now.
Coconut, cacao intercropping yields cash
KALIBO, Aklan, (PIA) — Intercropping coconuts with cacao for increased income is a good idea; but doing it to help mitigate climate change makes it a superb one.
This situation is now happening in Aklan with Aklanons seriously taking the coconut-cacao intercropping scheme to earn extra cash and, in the process, maximizing use of their coconut farmland and help address the climate change problem.
Plevy Raco, Provincial Coconut Development Manager of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) here says farmers in Aklan’s 17 towns are participating in the said scheme.
8ID looks for PMA recruits
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) — The 8th Infantry Division (8th ID) is encouraging interested youths to apply and take the Philippine Military Academy Entrance Examination scheduled on August 28 at the Samar State University’s Mercedes Campus.
To qualify, one must be a natural born citizen, single, never been married; have never sired nor given birth to a child; 5’4” tall for male and 5’2” tall for female; 17 to 22 years old on April 1 of the year following the date of the examination taken; and at least high school graduate with a general average of at least 85 percent.
