ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Philippines (PIA) — The Social Security System (SSS) has started issuing Social Security System (SSS) cards under the Unified Multipurpose Identification System for Capiz SSS members, with private firms here being scheduled for biometric and photo capturing.
So far, some 1,000 SSS members in Capiz have already completed the procedure for the issuance of the new ID card. The SSS in the province said scheduling is being made on a weekly basis because those in charge of biometric and photo capturing are also conducting the same activity in Aklan province.
Coastal clean-up
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) — The Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region VI, with the Southern Iloilo Coastal Resource Management Council will hold a simultaneous clean-up of southern Iloilo’s coastline, from Oton to Tigbauan towns on September 17 starting 7 a.m. Volunteers from both public and private sectors have been invited to join the activity.
Likewise, the Iloilo City Sangguniang Panlungsod is asking city residents particularly in 56 coastal barangays and barangays along Iloilo River to join in the coastal and Iloilo River clean-up event on the same date.
Info-sharing protocols
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) — Police Senior Inspector Homobono Sayon, Deputy of Operations, Camp Dagohoy, has informed Bohol police commanders in a Media Relations Seminar Workshop in Camp Dagohoy last week that henceforth, police officers must answer phone inquiries by media on crime reports politely and, he added, “in fact, media can ask for police blotter info as long as the info does not interfere with ongoing operations.”
Said seminar workshop was aimed at cultivating police officers’ attitude in information sharing while disseminating Philippine National Police (PNP) policies on sharing information to media especially in crisis situations.
43rd anniversary
CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) — The Philippine Air Force (PAF)’s 560th Air Base Wing based in Mactan, Cebu celebrated earlier this month its 43rd Founding Anniversary with a program held at the Bri. Gen. Benito N. Ebuen Air Base theater in Lapu-lapu City. Event highlights included the recognition of outstanding individuals who have contributed to the accomplishments of the Wing and several outreach projects.
Also present were DENR-7’s Protected Area Wildlife in Coastal Management Zone Services (PAWCMZS) regional director Dioscoro Melana and PAF chief, Lt.Gen Oscar H. Rabena at a ground breaking ceremony and MOA signing in support of government’s National Greening Program at the back of the Base gym.
DTI-Leyte services
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Leyte Provincial Office recently conducted a two-day DTI Service Caravan bringing government services directly to residents of Hilongos, a distant remote town in the southern part of Leyte.
The Caravan provided consultations between local prospective entrepreneurs and the DTI on business financial aspects, and how to start and improve business.
