MANDAUE CITY, Cebu, Philippines — Following the challenge hurled to the Sangguniang Kabataan officials in the Province of Cebu, the Liga ng mga Barangay manifested their desire to help in the campaign against human trafficking.
Provincial Board Member Jose Ribomapil Holganza, Jr., who heads the Liga ng mga Barangay in the province, said in two months, the association would put in place a barrio travel and location registry which requires all the residents to put on the registry the address and contact details of their family members who are away from home. Japan scholarship
ILOILO CITY (PNA) — The Japanese Grant in Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) is now accepting applications from government employees who want to avail of the program starting 2012-2013. Data from the Knowledge Management Division (KMD) of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) here said 20 employees will be taken in as scholars in various masteral degrees.
The application is open to government employees of target organizations with a permanent status and who have two or more years of work experience. They must be between 22 and 39 years old, with bachelor’s degree relevant to the applying field, has a rating of at least “very satisfactory” from the second semester of 2010 and first semester of 2011.
Iloilo projects
ILOILO CITY (PNA) — Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog announced yesterday the major projects that will soon be implemented in this city courtesy of Ilonggo Sen. Franklin Drilon. Mabilog said some P2.8-billion worth of projects will start in the next two months which will redound to more growth and progress for the metropolis.
The projects were assured by Drilon during the meeting of the Iloilo River Development Council on Friday. The projects are the P217-million Iloilo Radial Road; P1.7-billion Iloilo Circumferential Road; P423-million Jaro-Leganes Road, and the P150-million Esplanade project.
Disclosure policy
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) — Local government units that have hidden their financial statements from the public may soon run out of other sources of priority development funds. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has made the full disclosure policy a pre-requisite for loans, government financial assistance and grants from government financial institutions and international donors.
At the recent Kapihan sa PIA, DILG Provincial Director Louella Lucino bared this as the DILG earlier issued statements that towns or cities without the Seal of Good Housekeeping are barred from getting loans from government financial institutions.
Beneficiaries
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) — Some 3,050 poor households from the 54 barangays of Alangalang, Leyte are the latest addition to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of the national government. No less than P1.526 million was released to the beneficiaries during the launching of the Pantawid Pamilya at the Alangalang Auditorium on Saturday.
The amount covers the April allotment of the beneficiaries, Ms. Virginia Edano, 4Ps Regional Project Coordinator, said during the launching of the Conditional Cash Transfer program.
