ILOILO CITY, Iloilo, Philippines (PIA) — A “Hataw-Galaw” and a simplified cheer-dance contest held at the Jaro Covered Gym capped the celebration of the Philippine Civil Service’s 111th anniversary last Sept. 23.
In sports gear, participants from over 20 government agencies performed a calorie-burning exercise while representatives of the Department of Agriculture, Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Western Visayas Medical Center, competed in a seven-minute cheer-dance competition which depicted the anniversary theme, “Championing R.A.C.E: Public Service Excellence at Full Speed.”

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) — The Cebu City Government and the Cebu-Korean Association (CKA) have launched the first-ever local annual Korean Day Festival. Slated on October 1, the festival will be marked by a grand parade by Korean residents in the city.
Cebu City Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young said a Cebu City Council resolution declared the first Saturday of October as Korean Day in the city. “The event marks the friendship between Cebu City and Koreans mark the friendship that binds the City of Cebu and the Koreans,” said Young. “It’s important to have an activity allowing Cebuanos to understand the Korean community beyond K-Pop, which has made waves in our music industry.”

ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) — Addressing the problem of jobs mismatch requires cooperation among agencies in the region, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE).
DoLE asst. regional director Crispin Dannug told the Philippine Information Agency-6 recently the agency is in constant consultations with the Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education (DepEd) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to help high school graduating students select courses.

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) — Police and military beat reporters in Cebu and officials of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 along with police directors in Central Visayas cities and provinces have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on protocols in covering crisis situations such as hostage taking incidents.
The MOU serves as guide for both media and PNP regarding their specific roles during crisis incidents. Under the MOU, the PNP will provide and secure a proper place for media covering the event to ensure that they do not endanger the lives of anyone and for them not to hamper police operation.
Philhealth-8 awarded
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) — For the fourth consecutive year, PhilHealth-8 was given best frontline service award under the Citizen Satisfaction Center Seal of Excellence Program previously known as the Public Service Delivery Audit/Assistance (PASADA) Program of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
The awarding ceremony was conducted last September 15, 2011 at Patio Victoria, San Jose, Tacloban City as part of the 111th Anniversary celebration of the Philippine Civil Service. As regional awardee, PhilHealth 8 also qualifies as a national candidate for the same recognition program.
