ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) — Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-6 Regional Director Florencio Sunico Jr. said the agency is in partnership with the Department of Education in pursuing the K-to-12 program, which he said he sees as a means for high productivity for even high school graduates.
Said program aims to add two years of senior high school to the current 10-year cycle to comply with international standards. Sunico said K-to-12 ensures that high school graduates are ready for employment because of technical vocational skills that students will learn, while they may also plan to pursue formal college education.
K-9 purchase
CEBU (PNA) — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) K-9 Division said Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia’s plan to buy K-9 dogs would greatly help the agency in its campaign against illegal drugs. Garcia had asked PDEA-K-9 division chief Carlito Ermac if purchasing some 20 K-9 dogs would help in the anti-illegal drug drive, particularly in Cebu province, to prevent the entry of illegal drugs because the province is considered a transit point for drugs. ”It’s a big help,” Ermac said. Garcia said they are considering two options — to buy drug-sniffing dogs from suppliers or to buy regular dogs to be trained by PDEA for narcotics detection which could be a cheaper procedure.
