ILOILO CITY, ILOILO, Philippines (PNA) — Three classrooms will be turned over by the Jollibee Foundation to their respective beneficiaries in Guimaras and Iloilo on Thursday and Friday this week.
Luvenia Cardiel, Iloilo and Guimaras coordinator of the foundation’s Busog Lusog Talino (BLT) program, said the classroom projects were implemented under Jollibee’s “Build a Classroom Project” situated in areas where the foundation already has existing BLT or supplementary feeding program.
They were identified through their local implementing partner, the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST) for Iloilo and the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University–Arevalo for Guimaras.
PITAHC convention
CEBU CITY, Cebu — The Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC)-Visayas will hold its first convention and exhibit showcasing products promoting traditional and alternative health care at Waterfront Hotel on Nov. 26.
PITAHC Visayas coordinator Dr. Jocelyn Abellana said some 50 of some 100 expected delegates have already confirmed their attendance while eight exhibitors have already listed up for booths in the exhibit. Mayor recovers
ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Mayor Angel Alan Celino is still recuperating from an injury due to a vehicular accident but has gone back to work. The Roxas City mayor was on his way to Iloilo City October 23, 2011 to receive an award from the Police Regional office (PRO) 6 in Camp Delgado, when his vehicle accidentally hit a concrete fence in Zarraga town.
He survived the accident but suffered a fractured bone on his left shoulder. Celino was supposed to be given an award by the PRO 6 for his creation and fully equipping of the Roxas City Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team. (Edith B. Colmo)

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Capiz is asking local government units (LGU) here to support the International Day of Persons With Disabilities in the Philippines celebration on December 3.
A DILG memorandum circular lists activities that may be undertaken like hanging of streamers in conspicuous places, Holy Mass celebration, orientation/forum on Batas Pambansa 344 and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), cultural or talent show of children/youth with disabilities, livelihood exhibits and media interviews.

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will conduct a two-day media learning session on “Doing Reports on Free Trade Areas: A DBFTA Learning Session for Media” on November 23 and 24 in Cebu City.
Manila, Cebu and Mindanao business reporters have been invited to the event. The activity aims to further enrich media practitioners’ understanding on the background, dynamics and important issues related to international trade. Topics to be discussed include international trade engagements, trade policy consultations, negotiations and related updates.
