PAVIA, Iloilo (PNA) — A Livelihood and Technology Center will soon rise in Pavia, the gateway to the Iloilo International Airport, to assist interested women to acquire skills and empower themselves. Pavia Budget Officer Ramy Madero said Sen. Manuel Villar donated P1.5 million for the construction of said Center along with funds from the Iloilo provincial government and the Pavia municipal government. “Pavia is also an implementor of the Great Women Project of the Canadian Urban Institute that aims to empower women economically,” Madero said.
RELOCATION SITE
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PNA) — The National Housing Authority is rushing housing units for over 1,000 informal settler-families to be relocated from along Iloilo and Batiano rivers and other danger zones here. Senator Franklin M. Drilon, who is instrumental in sourcing funds worth P344 million for the housing units said the first relocation site will be a city-owned 5.6-hectare lot in Brgy. Lanit, Jaro district for informal settlers from the Dungon and Calajunan creeks. The first batch of 75 families along Iloilo River in North San Jose, Molo district will be prioritized for the Lanit relocation site. The Brgy. Sooc, Arevalo district relocation site will house 300 families.
INDIGENTS’ BENEFITS
KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) — Kalibo’s indigents will now have easy access to X-ray and other health services through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to be signed soon by Mayor William Lachica and Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital (DRSTMH) representatives. Kalibo’s Sangguniang Bayan approved a resolution authorizing Lachica to enter into the MOA for the Referral Facility System on Outsourced Services. Under the MOA, Kalibo indigents seeking consultation in the municipality’s Rural Health Units (RHUs), especially those who needs chest X-ray, will be referred to the DRSTMH for the needed service.
FAMILY SESSIONS
DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — Couples whose families benefit from the national government’s conditional cash transfer (CCT) program are urged to religiously attend family development sessions to learn more about responsible parenthood. Commission on Population (POPCOM) 7 Director Bruce Ragas made the appeal, saying attendance in the monthly family development sessions is a condition set for the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilya, the CCT program spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) — The Civil Aviation of the Philippines (CAAP) scheduled public hearings and consultations on the proposed airport terminal fee revision with representatives from private and government entities at Hotel Alejandro last August 16. Another public hearing on the same subject is set on August 30 at the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport (DZR)’s VIP Lounge. Acting airport manager Antonio Alfonso, said the current P30-terminal fee will be raised to P200 because “while other airports are already collecting P200 terminal fee, the DZR Airport, considered one of the country’s busiest airports still collects P30 terminal fee.” Higher fees, he said, will cover maintenance expenses and ongoing renovations.
