ILOILO CITY (PIA6) – The opening of the Iloilo Airport for international flights in November necessitates the hiring of more personnel, an airport official said. Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Manager Efren Nagrama said in an interview that there is not even enough number to cater to the needs of about 7,500 passengers daily. Nagrama said there will be more personnel coming in to cater to the needs of passengers coming in at midnight flights, as the international flights begin in November.
Presently, the airport personnel attend to operations from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. all throughout the seven days of the week.
PEACE MONTH
DUMAGUETE CITY (PIA) – The provincial government of Negros Oriental in cooperation with multi-sectoral groups planted trees and held other peace-oriented events to highlight the month-long National Peace Consciousness celebration this month. Over 400 police, military personnel, schools, government agencies and non-government organizations planted more than a thousand trees at Barangay Cambaloctot in San Jose town yesterday. The Philippine National Police led the “Bike for Peace” with several groups of bikers in the province.
INFRA PROJECTS
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Tacloban City District Engineering Office is currently involved with different infrastructure projects. Among these projects, District Engr. Arnaldo R. Bonifacio said, are the installation and expansion of the water system in the city, construction of multi-purpose building, and the construction and rehabilitation of farm-to-market road in the different areas in Tacloban. Currently, installations of 1.25 m x 2.30 m water tanks are being conducted to counter-act the insufficiency of water in some barangays in Tacloban City.
WATERSHED
ILOILO (PIA) – Five major tertiary institutions in Iloilo City signed a memorandum of understanding to undertake convergent initiatives in developing the potentials of the Iloilo Tigum-Aganan Watershed area. It is a big opportunity for the local government units to be recipients of the academe’s expertise, technical assistance and results of studies that can push their respective initiatives forward, Alimodian, Iloilo Mayor Juanito Alipao, president of the Tigum-Aganan Watershed Management Board, said.
SURVEY
ILOILO CITY (PIA) – The Civil Service Commission (CSC-6) has already finished the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) Report Card Survey (RCS) in 27 national government agencies out of the 41 targeted this year. The ARTA RCS is a structured tool for actual gathering of clients’ feedback on government agencies’ frontline services and compliance with the other provisions of Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 such as the observance of the “No Lunch Break” policy, posting of the Citizen’s Charter and setting up of the Public Assistance and Complaint’s Desk.
