CEBU CITY, Cebu — The Department of Justice’s Parole and Probation Administration’s (PPA) information officer in Region 7, Ceres Geromo, said top PPA officials were here recently to enhance PPA’s mission and vision now focused on volunteerism, therapeutic community and restorative justice. “We want to make sure our mission and vision fits our clients’ needs,” Geroma said, adding that an undertaking of said revised mission and vision is making the community a major partner in the rehabilitation of parolees and probationers. “We would like to see all concerned sectors come together to help them become responsible members of society again,” she said. SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — Some 50 sets of tool kits worth R310,000 are set to be distributed among Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Specialistas in Antique. “Tesda Specialistas” are TESDA-trained and certified workers who are holders of National Certificates (NC) in any chosen field or course of specialization. TESDA Provincial Director Rick Abraham said each tool kit is worth R6,200 and contains items, tools and supplies essential for a certified worker to start a job.

ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PNA) — Customer courtesy procedure training is being eyed for city government employees here. Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has instructed the city’s Human Resource Development Office to prepare a concept paper after agreeing to the initiative broached by City Tourism and Development Officer (CTDO) Benito Jimena who said city government employees should set an example starting with wearing of uniforms and identification cards when dealing with clients. Jimena said public employees should make it a habit to be courteous with people they deal with.
RE-PROGRAMMING WORKSHOP
CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 held a regional reprogramming workshop for DENR 7’s proposed R725.2 million budget for 2013 at DENR 7’s Training Hall at Banilad, Mandaue City last Sept. 12-14, 2017. The amount is 28 percent higher than this year’s R565.884-million budget and includes R171.52 million for personnel services (23.65 percent of total); R269.064 million (37.10 percent of total) for maintenance and other operating expenses; and R196.232 million (27.06 percent of total) for capital outlay. Planning and Management Division (PMD) Chief Wilfredo Lee said the increase in the proposed budget is due to a hike in allocation for government’s national greening program (NGP) and cadastral survey.
PEACE ACTIVITIES
CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar (PIA) — The Samar Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) is eyeing a “Linis for Peace” activity to mark Peace Month on September 21. Proponent, Anita Taran, provincial agriculturist, said “there is peace if the surrounding is clean.” The proposed activity will have cleaners first holding a flag ceremony garbed in athletics/sports attire, and a recitation of the pledge for peace, after which they will move to their assigned places to clean up the surroundings.
