BOHOL (PIA) – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-7) in Central Visayas urged strict implementation of rules and regulations in handling captive tarsiers inside the Tarsier Conservation Area (TCA) in Loboc, Bohol. DENR-7 regional executive director Dr. Isabelo Montejo said DTI’s role is to ensure tarsiers’ safety and protection. A tarsier’s lifespan is affected by stress including those posed by tourists wanting to interact with them by day thus disrupting and disturbing their nocturnal lifestyle. Some 800-tourists daily or 24,000 monthly visit the conservation area.
