KALIBO, Aklan — Another lottery punter has joined the unofficial “Instant Millionaires’ Club,” after a lucky better from here hit last Monday’s Grand Lotto 6/55’s R30-million jackpot. Said bettor is this month’s eighth lotto millionaires so far who matched with his bet winning numbers - 28-52-05-04-41-27 - drawn by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in Pasay City. PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II said the prize may be claimed any day during the work week, and only winners with the winning tickets can claim their prize. D.O.L.E. ANNIVERSARY
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) — A mega job fair will highlight the Department of Labor and Employment’s office in Region 7 (DoLE 6)’s 79th Foundation Anniversary celebration. DOLE Region 6 Director Ponciano M. Ligutom said there will be three venues for the event — Robinson’s Place Bacolod City on Dec. 7, and Gaisano Capital Iloilo and Boracay, Aklan on Dec. 8. Over 90 local companies and overseas recruitment agencies have signified interest in participating in the job fair. Other activities will include a trade fair to be participated in by beneficiaries of DOLE-funded projects. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), along with the TESDA-Supervised Schools Association of Iloilo (TSSAI), will also feature skills demonstration, including free massages.
DEWORMING KIDS
JULITA, Leyte — Some 300 pupils from the Julita Central Elementary School here benefited from a deworming activity conducted by the Julita local government along with the San Juanico Rotary Club recently. Mayor Irvin R. Dy said the deworming is a continuation of a project held six months ago after he received 3,000 deworming tablets from a member of the Marikina Rotary Club after he entered into a sisterhood agreement with the City of Marikina through City Mayor Del De Guzman. CATARMAN, Northern Samar — Female students from remote areas in this province will soon have a comfortable place to stay when construction of a four-storey dormitory for girls in the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) main campus is finished. Groundbreaking ceremonies led by UEP president, Dr. Mar P. de Asis were held here Monday with Governor Paul R. Daza as guest of honor. The new four-story dorm will have bed space for 130 female students and will have commercial and recreational kiosks and a rooftop multi-purpose hall. Project funds include R7.5 million from Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano’s Priority Development Assistance Fund with a similar amount as counterpart fund from the provincial government to cover the R15-million project cost.

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) — The provincial government here joined the national observance of “Araw ng Pagbasa” (Reading Day), the official culminating activity of the National Reading Month this November, in a program held Tuesday at the Negros Oriental Convention Center. Governor Roel Degamo led a storytelling session, reading from a book about the history of Siaton town, his birthplace.
