ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA6) — Three Capiz government information officers are included in the Best Performing Information Officers in Western Visayas. Fire Officer 2 Marlon Garbo of the Roxas City Bureau of Fire Protection, SPO1 Donna Asmod of the Philippine National Police Provincial Office and Capiz Provincial Press Bureau Chief Eduardo Basilonia of the provincial government of Capiz are among this year’s 10 Best Performing Information Officers in Region VI. The awardees, members of the Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers (CAGPIO), qualified per evaluation results of their documents based on criteria set by the Philippine Information Agency Regional Search Committee.
RESEARCH AGENDA
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PIA) — The Regional Development Council 6 (RDC 6), through its Development Administration Committee (DAC), has drawn up a regional research agenda that researchers from state universities and colleges, local government units and research institutions can pursue in supporting regional development. Research topics cover good governance and the rule of law, peace and security, and macroeconomy and poverty alleviation, all within the ambit of DAC activities in the RDC. NEDA-6 DAC Regional Technical Coordinator Ma. Lourdes Miado said the proposed research studies were identified during a RDC-organized workshop last September, 2012 to encourage research addressing development issues and challenge, the results of which can be used for decision-making, policy intervention, database development, planning, program enhancement, legislative action, investment programming and other action supportive of the current regional development plan.
669 H.O.T.S.
ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PNA) — Some 669 applicants were hired on the spot (HOTS) during the two-day job fair facilitated by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that served to highlight its 79th founding anniversary. The Negros Occidental job fair held Friday registered the highest number of HOTS with 339 while the Iloilo job fair on Saturday recorded 282 HOTS. Aklan, meanwhile, had 35 HOTS. Further, 621 of the HOTS were for local employment and 48 for overseas placement.The HOTS composed 14.24 percent of applicants who qualified during the preregistration. The highest came from local employment at 19.1 percent while overseas was at 3.29 percent.
DESPERATE MOVES
ORMOC CITY, Leyte (PIA) — The military branded as desperate the New People’s Army attacks on government troops in Albuera and Jaro, Leyte last December 6, which resulted in the killing of two soldiers, and the wounding of three others, and a civilian. “This is another desperate act of the NPA to disrupt our efforts to bring peace and development benefiting our less fortunate brothers and sisters in the area,” said Colonel Rafael C. Valencia, the Brigade Commander of 802nd Infantry Brigade based in Camp Downes, Ormoc City.
FEEDING PROGRAM
MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte (PIA) — A company intending to build an upscale housing subdivision will hold a “4 in 1” in the project’s locality. Aside from meals for some 200 children of indigent families in Brgy. Combado, there will also be free dental service provided by the Joshua Cruz Armamento Development Inc. (JCAD) as part of its corporate social responsibility. Later in the evening there will be a street party and evening fireworks with the JCAD Band from Bohol playing with a celebrity singer.
