BERLIN (dpa) – The cruise ship Carnival Destiny will be modified and renamed the Carnival Sunshine when the ship undergoes 155 million dollars of renovations including an extra deck at the Fincantieri shipyards in Italy until April. The changes will add 183 additional cabins as well as numerous new bars and restaurants. The Destiny’s capacity was 2,640 passengers whereas the Sunshine will accommodate 3,006 passengers. Sunshine is expected to set off on its maiden voyage on April 12 with a 14-day Mediterranean cruise from Venice to Barcelona.
Mainsail Arts Festival in St. Petersburg
Some 100,000 visitors are expected at the Mainsail Arts Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida April 20-21. About 200 artists will exhibit their work in the harbour area, including pottery, jewellery, metalwork, photography, sculptures and paintings. A panel of judges will select the best works of art. Marathon runners who want to experience the joys of nature are being invited to the Maraisthon: a marathon through the green lanes of the Poitiers Marais, a wetland in western France. on June 16. The athletes will run a course that winds through the enchanted nature reserve, which extends between the towns of La Rochelle, Poitiers and Niort. The marshland is diced and sliced by 4,000 kilometers of drainage ditches, canals and streams. Runners have the choice of the full 42-kilometre route or a 10-kilometre fun-run version.
