Asiana Airlines (OZ) continues its industry winning streak by being named 2012 Best Overall Airline in the World by Business Traveler. The global travel magazine awarded the Korean airline for having the best assessments in flight reservations, airport and in-flight services for 2012.
Asiana was also cited for cutting-edge cabin facilities exemplified by its first class OZ First Suite, and its business class OZ Quadra Smartium. Passengers can also enjoy the services of its onboard crew chef and sommelier.
Medibank Research Inc., an independent research firm, conducted the survey and evaluation among Business Traveler readers. The magazine has been presenting the awards based on its reader surveys for 24 years. Aside from Asiana, only two other airlines have received the Best Overall Airline in the World award: Singapore Airlines and British Airways.
For the seventh consecutive year, Asiana also earned the Best Overall In-flight Experience in the World. Its ground and call center service also won Best Overall Customer Service – Airline for the fourth time.
The Business Traveler award follows Asiana’s win as Airline of the Year from Premier Traveler magazine. Aside from Airline of the Year, Asiana Airlines was also hailed by Premier Traveler for Best Flight Attendants in the World, Best Airline to Asia and Best Airline Advertising Campaign.
Asiana Airlines also celebrated its tenth year as a member of Star Alliance, the world’s largest network of international airlines. “We have built a global brand image and expanded our network by joining Star Alliance. This has led us to win the ‘Airline of the Year’ award for four consecutive years from world-renowned airline research groups and magazines. We have become a world- class airline in a short period of time,” said Young Doo-Yoon, President and CEO of Asiana Airlines.
“Asiana has played a significant role in covering Northeast Asian destinations of our network. Its outstanding service quality is the pride of Star Alliance,” said Star Alliance CEO Mark Schwab, who visited Asiana headquarters in Korea for the event.
To celebrate its Star Alliance membership, Asiana Airlines has launched promos on its website, social networking sites and among Asiana Club members. Its passengers in Incheon International Airport can also win Business Lounge vouchers and baggage priority processing services via lottery.
