Actor Paulo Avelino, through his manager Leo Dominguez, has apologized for the “joke” he made while presenting for the 2013 Golden Screen TV Awards recently which offended members of the Entertainment Press Society, Inc. (ENPRESS).
As posted in various entertainment publications, Leo stated that the young drama actor “was just trying to crack an innocent joke to lighten up the program, with no intention to offend anyone, most especially his friends from the press.”
Leo further noted that Paulo “now realizes the consequences of his statement and he would like to exhaust all means to reconcile with those he offended.”
According to reports, members of ENPRESS requested Paulo to present an award last-minute, as there was a shortage of presenters. He initially hesitated, saying that they needed to obtain permission from Leo, as well as Star Magic, which also handles his career. They eventually received a go signal from Leo.
When he got onstage to present, the Kapamilya actor said, “Mahirap magtrabaho nang napipilitan ka lang.”
Paulo won the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award that night for his portrayal of Nathan Montenegro on “Walang Hanggan,” a recognition he shared with Neil Ryan Sese (“Munting Heredera”).
He even extended his gratitude to ENPRESS via Twitter after the event.
“And thank you Enpress for naming me Best Supporting Actor! Dream come true! #WalangHanggan #GoldenScreenAwards,” he posted.
