Richard Merk is thankful for the chance to be heard on air again, not just as a singer or actor but as host of “Words & Music” every Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. on Energy FM 106.7.
On the show, Richard shares and exchanges views, opinions, ideas with listeners, along with Django Tango, Patsy Watchy and others. Richard also interviews top artists, celebrities, and personalities. The program has a segment on health featuring Dr. Lemuel Tocjayao and another dubbed “Mike Recommends” that reviews latest films, movies and TV programs.
It is not Richard’s first time to host a radio show. When he was younger, the singer was heard on “Operatang Putol-Putol,” then a popular radio program on DZXL with Espie Fabon, Edgar Mortiz, Nora Aunor, Perla Adea and the late Jay Ilagan.
It was on “Tita Betty’s Children Show,” where he became a singing champ at the age of nine. Back then, he crooned such songs as The Beatles’ “I Will” and The Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody.”
Richard was recently honored with a Koyang Award at the annual Philippine International Jazz Festival. This May, Richard will perform with international artists and take part in a road tour with Bo Cerrudo, Jon Santos, The CompanY and Elizabeth Ramsey. In June, he will perform with Laura Fygi in Manila and hold shows abroad.
