BANGUED, Abra — Today is a day to remember for the Abrenios as they celebrate the fifth staging of the Kawayan Festival.
Gov. Eustaquio Bersamin said the festival aims to promote the one-town one-product project of the province which is bamboo, provide an opportunity for Abrenios to celebrate, and encourage Abrenios living in other provinces or abroad to come home.
Bersamin said the festival is a good opportunity to tell the world that Abra is safe and thriving.
A grand parade of local officials from 27 municipalities and other non-government organizations will be held today, Saturday, celebrating the province’s 96th founding anniversary.
Residents all over the province are expected to flock to the capital town of Bangued to join hands in the celebration.
