Printer apps for learning
While most moms want their kids to take a break from playing digital apps, they cannot give up the convenience. After all, apps are the cheapest babysitters you can find. They keep their children occupied at those moments when you need to do something else.
With this in mind, Hewlett-Packard recently came out with print apps that are loaded with printable educational and entertaining content for kids, as the new feature of their HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5525, 6525 e-All-in-One. The print apps offer anything from family activities, business, marketing, home, travel and other interests. Calendar templates, photo albums, coloring pages and signs, game pages, maps and even recipes are just some of the myriad downloadable printables. Most of the applications from a wide array of choices are free of charge and may be accessed through the HP ePrintCenter.
What is exciting though is that part of that available content comes from Singapore’s leading education publisher, Singapore Asia Publishers, which provides learning materials for children in preschool up to primary school levels. Among the educational content that parents can readily print through the SAP Education Print App are bite-sized practice materials will complement their children’s lessons in school; printable assessment tests for English, Math and Science subjects and in-class learning materials that are in line with school subjects per level. SAP plans to offer content for Chinese language later this year.
With the print app feature, moms don’t need to create practice tests from scratch just so that their kids can apply the principles that they have learned in class. The onSponge Learning Print App provides access to the proprietary ThinkingMath resource. Each week, a series of practice problem sums for students in Primary 3 to Primary 6 levels will be made available through the print app, helping young learners to hone their problem-solving skills with core techniques and develop their reasoning abilities. Users can access the step-by-step solutions of the problem sums on www.onSponge.com.
What’s more, the print apps give parents the ability to download templates and other printables and install them in the printer for access or have them printed at specific day and time of the week.
“Busy parents and young students often spend time finding good education content and accessing this content,” said Albert Mateo Jr., general manager, Printing and Personal Systems, HP Philippines. “The education print apps on HP Deskjet Ink Advantage series will leverage HP’s leadership in cloud technologies and high-quality printing to deliver new learning experiences for families, who can now directly access education content and low-cost printing without having to worry about costs or wasted prints.”
